Why choose to work with me?

Raisa Luther

Cultural sensitivity: As a South Asian therapist myself, I have a deep understanding of cultural nuances. During my clinical psychology training, I have lived and worked at the grassroots level in rural India, delivering evidence-based and culture-sensitive therapy within a resource-deficient environment.

Experience in intergenerational trauma: My grandparents migrated from Lahore to Punjab during the partition of India. In my personal life, I have experienced first-hand intergenerational trauma, mental health challenges and addiction issues within the family. I have also seen incredible examples of strength and resilience in my life, and bring this experiential learning with me to the therapy space, combining experience with clinical expertise.

Using my own experience with intergenerational trauma and other mental health challenges to develop empathy, I help other individuals heal from inherited trauma and navigate complex family dynamics.

Collaborative & strengths-based approach: Therapy is a collaborative process where your autonomy is prioritized, working together towards positive change. I believe that YOU are the expert of your own life. My approach is also very much focussed on turning adversity into strength, and I'm here to help you do that.

Safe and supportive environment: Your comfort and confidentiality are key in my practice, providing a non-judgmental space for exploration and healing. At every step I ask myself, ‘What would I want if I were in your seat?’
